Flickering Lights Reprise  (x)

give me all the flickering lights!

tiny specs of fluttering rays

and city glitters shimmering

but only from far away.

i want them all it’s an addiction

i want the christmas lights buried in snow

and the blips in science fiction

films from years ago.

give me all the night sky’s twinkling sprinkles

and the red pulsing eyes

on tvs that standby

fading, flirting in and out

like a game of cat and mouse.

bits of foil in the distance

blowing kisses from the sun to me and

showing no resistance to the photons

that consistently pass notes on

from one lover to the other

like cupids tiny brothers.

give me all the flickering lights.

light every candle and wave every phone

glinting and bleeping and

imprintining glowing circuses

that linger while I’m sleeping.

an orchestra of weeping light

swan singing like star crossed choirs

who play themselves to me

all night.

Why do these make me want to cry?

Never Not Funny | Pardcast-a-thon | 11.23.12I’ve been avoiding these Never Not Funny photos for a very, VERY, long time… mostly because I never had the time to sit down and sort through the 500+ photos I took.
So until I get through them, here is Jon Hamm spinning Jimmy Pardo around.

You’re making it really hard to know what to take seriously these days.

It turns out procrastination is not typically a function of laziness, apathy or work ethic as it is often regarded to be. It’s a neurotic self-defense behavior that develops to protect a person’s sense of self-worth.

You see, procrastinators tend to be people who have, for whatever reason, developed to perceive an unusually strong association between their performance and their value as a person. This makes failure or criticism disproportionately painful, which leads naturally to hesitancy when it comes to the prospect of doing anything that reflects their ability — which is pretty much everything.

But in real life, you can’t avoid doing things. We have to earn a living, do our taxes, have difficult conversations sometimes. Human life requires confronting uncertainty and risk, so pressure mounts. Procrastination gives a person a temporary hit of relief from this pressure of “having to do” things, which is a self-rewarding behavior. So it continues and becomes the normal way to respond to these pressures.

Particularly prone to serious procrastination problems are children who grew up with unusually high expectations placed on them. Their older siblings may have been high achievers, leaving big shoes to fill, or their parents may have had neurotic and inhuman expectations of their own, or else they exhibited exceptional talents early on, and thereafter “average” performances were met with concern and suspicion from parents and teachers.

This totally justifies every excuse I’ve been giving myself from not doing that thing I’m supposed to do.

So

  • I'm sick of you fuckers encouraging me to let down my walls that I've had up and to keep an open heart. CLOSED FOR BUSINESS UNTIL SOMEONE AGGRESSIVELY BREAKS IN to avoid disappointment. This was so much better when everyone was essentially fictional characters in my life.

I’d love to talk to comedians/funny people/anyone and have a job getting paid to do it.
